The Bertrand Museum, with nearly 17 works, has an important collection focused on portraiture, particularly for the period from the 000th century to the first half of the XNUMXth century. This exhibition aims to discover the richness of a still little-known fund.

The exhibition presents a selection of around a hundred pieces, often unpublished. The choice was guided by a concern for transversality and varied mediums. Paintings, sculptures, graphic arts and photographs will punctuate the journey. This set makes it possible to illustrate a subject for the first time highlighted in Châteauroux and to evoke various themes. Thus, the route will be structured around several different sections: the historical and allegorical figure but also the soldier, the Berrichon, etc. “Essentials” of art history will also be addressed such as the nude or the model as well as social or societal subjects such as the worker or the celebrity but also the artist portrait (male and female).
