Your adventure begins in the village of Bréhémont. It is an ideal starting point since here is the junction between the Loire by bike and the Indre by bike. You can discover the Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant by taking the link to Rigny-Ussé. But if you want to go up the Indre, then here is a selection of places full of history that are just waiting for your eyes to admire them...

Step 2

In the direction of Azay-le-Rideau, you will find the unique Maurice Dufresne Museum, housing vehicles, weapons and posters that have survived the centuries. Continuing on your way, you will pass very close to the Château de l'Islette, about ten kilometers away. Then discover this charming corner of nature fabric of the Renaissance which once sheltered the loves of Camille Claudel and Auguste Rodin.

Step 3

Your next stop will be in the village of Azay-le-Rideau. Take the time to observe its Renaissance castle floating on the Indre as well as the troglodyte valley of Goupillières, at the exit of the village. Step 4

In Pont-de-Ruan, you may recognize the authentic Manoir de Vonnes which inspired Clochegourde in: le Lys dans la vallée de Balzac. Once again follow in the author's footsteps, this time in Artannes-sur-Indre, in the rue du Bol de Lait where he himself made a stopover... You can then take a break at the Château des Archbishops. Just before Montbazon, you can take a detour to the Château d'Artigny, the most recent of the Loire castles.
