The Château de Chenonceau, perched above the Cher, is undoubtedly one of the most impressive castles of the Loire Valley. To discover it outside of the classic visit, we can only encourage you to take the river that crosses it or even the air. An original experience that will offer you magnificent views of the Château de Chenonceau.

From the air

Climb aboard a microlight or a hot air balloon, depending on your preferences, you will have the opportunity to discover the different valleys of Indre-et-Loire and its castles from an unusual point of view.

From Chenonceaux, it is possible to board a hot air balloon to fly over the architectural masterpieces of the Loire Valley. In the wind, you will discover the Château de Chenonceau and the sensational landscapes that surround it, for an unforgettable experience. Let yourself be carried away and admire the castles, vineyards and rivers in a dreamlike calm.

It is also possible to discover the castle and the Loire Valley aboard a ULM. You will thus discover the wonderful landscapes of the region, as well as Loches, Chaumont or Amboise. Depending on your desires and your budget, flight circuits can last between 15 minutes and 4 hours. 

From the Cher

By canoe or kayak

One of the best way to discover the Château de Chenonceau is undoubtedly by canoe or kayak. The particularity of the Château de Chenonceau is its gallery, built above the Cher, which allows you to go from one bank to the other. Discovering Chenonceau while sailing on the Cher is a magnificent opportunity to immortalize this fabulous mirror effect on the water.

Boat

For those who don't like paddling, it is also possible to visit the Château de Chenonceau by barge or by electric boat. Guided walking cruises or meal cruises are also offered to tourists on the Cher. Discover the time of a refreshing break, the long history of navigation on the Cher.

By foot

Discover the richness of our Cher Valley on foot.

For beautiful hikes around Chenonceaux, many hiking trails are available in the area, including the GR 41 which runs along the Cher (download the GR41 files from Vierzon to Chenonceaux) and the labeled circuits of Bléré, Chenonceaux and Chemin de Trèves.
Also combine stroll and heritage along the interpretation trail d'Athée sur Cher: explanatory terminals of the history of Cher channeled show you the way. And for children a booklet is available at the tourist office.
